Global Warming and the Current Car Crisis...
I know, I know...here we go, blaming Global Warming on all of the cars that we drive and our horrible habits...Death to Hummer, SUV drivers are scum...
Nope. Not from me. And not from Global Warming Salsa.
We are taking a more proactive approach. We didn't create our "Save the Musclecar" campaign for nothing...
While we know that no award winning salsa can reverse humankinds impact on the planet, we do think we can come up with some ideas to shift the blame away from the car companies (and look for REAL solutions!). And in our mind, that means that we will hopefully be inspring some great future engineers and enthusiasts. How the heck can a salsa do all that?
We are hoping to inspire young minds, and since education of children has been part of our mission from the start, we want to plant the seed that we hope will help us do that very thing...
Once we increase our distribution and start to expand, we are hoping to create a Global Warming Salsa / Save the Musclecar challenge for High Schools: An alternative power challenge for high school auto shop classes. We think (and hopefully we are not alone in this...) that there are hundreds of young brilliant minds out there that have ideas for powering cars that can introduce or optimize alternative fuels, and we want to help them get started. Propane, Liquid Natural Gas, Electric, BioDiesel, E85...we KNOW the future leaders of the world have ideas that could optimize this...and would like to offer a challenge to EVERY school:
Create a low buck, alternative fuel vehicle that can functionally replace a current on-the-road vehicle. Something that runs in hot or cold weather...something that can safely accelerate into traffic...something that pollutes considerably less than a normal used car...something fun to drive that does NOT sacrifice safety...using a donated vehicle...and hopefully helped by the local community...using available parts and modern technology...and we want to pit them against each other (like the current robotic challenges out there...)...mileage, performance, handling, reliability, braking, and attention to detail.
What do you think? Do you think Global Warming may be on to something?
